Initially, I wrote a long article about the recent George Floyd incident. This included a lot of angry thoughts and feelings that I wanted to share. Then I realized that an article which explains how angry I am isn’t going to make any difference in the world. Proper action will. So this isn’t much of an article, but more of a resource page on what you can do, where can you go and how you can make a difference with Black Lives.

BlackLivesMatter — https://blacklivesmatter.com/

The George Floyd Fundraiser — https://www.gofundme.com/f/georgefloyd

These are the top two that are very well known in light of recent events. BlackLivesMatter is a global organization that has been taking action towards ending racism towards blacks all around the world through political means such as protests and petitions. The George Floyd Fundraiser was set up by George’s brother, Philonise Floyd to help assist the family, including George Floyd's children. I found a page from The Strategist which has dozens of more great organizations all with their own purpose and some are location-based as well so see that here.

Protest

The best way to find out about protests in your area is through social media. Search for Facebook Groups and Events that are happening near you. Use hashtags on Twitter to find protests and events that are happening in your city (E.g. #WashingtonProtests).

On the BlackLivesMatter website, they have chapters where you are able to contact them directly and ask about details of upcoming protests and events.

Protect yourself

This is an extremely important issue that needs to be resolved, but we are still currently in a global Pandemic. Please ensure to follow all the protective guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Including social distancing, wearing masks, using hand sanitizer. I understand that this is easier said than done, but any effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 is great.
