Switching to a Tesla: One Week Impressions
Let me actually start this by stating that I loved my BMW. It was a 2018 3 Series that was super fun to drive, comfortable, and had some nice performance under the hood. I owned that car for about 2.5 years, and that is when the problems began. Given that I drive about 25–30k a year, it was extremely expensive to maintain the vehicle, so I wanted to look at alternatives since I felt that driving that much in a Beamer was not sustainable, and the car would only have more and more problems. And now, I have a Tesla.
I went ahead with a Used 2023 Tesla Model 3 AWD Long Range. I wanted to write here to share my experience throughout the buying process, things that I found interesting and cool, things that I like, and things that I am not a fan of.
Buying Process
This was probably the most interesting experience I’ve ever had when buying a car. When I was thinking about moving to Tesla, I went in store since I wanted to speak with someone and run some numbers with them in person. This was a relatively smooth process and as expected, except when I left, I said I would come back in a couple of days if I wanted to move forward, and the sales rep said “Don’t bother, you can just do it on your phone”. So, the next day, I decided to move forward with the Tesla, and bought a car via Apple Pay, on my phone.
